For the purpose of this exercise a pre scanned image is available To scan an image in PhotoShop go to File import select your scanner software.Your scanner settings should be 150 dpi with de screen on for printed media (de screen should remove the lines that are created in the print process) |
Open the file angel_web.jpg in photoshop then go to menu / window / layers to open the layer palette. Right-click your mouse on the background layer and click duplicate layer |

Rename the layers by double clicking on their names
and Rename one right and the other left |
| Delete the background layer by selecting it and dragging it onto the trash can | ![]() |

Select the left layer . Using the poly- lasso from the tools palette draw a rough selection around the right broken part of the image then hit the delete key on your keyboard . |
Now select the right layer and go to menu /select / Inverse.This will select the opposite of what you have selected which saves time. Now press the delete key |

Your layers should look something like this; also add an extra layer by clicking on create new layer on the layers palette. |
Select layer 1. Using the paint bucket tool fill the background with a bright colour like yellow, this will help you when cleaning up your images . |
